Caitlin Yoshiko Kandil

Caitlin Yoshiko Kandil is an Orange County-based freelance reporter whose coverage of religion, race and health has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, NBC News, U.S. News and the California Health Report. She won an Orange County Press Club award for feature writing for her 2016 story on immigrant detention. She also won a 2014 Emerging Journalist Fellowship from the Journalism and Women Symposium, and a 2011 National Health Journalism Fellowship from the University of Southern California. Kandil is a former U.S. Fulbright scholar to Sri Lanka, and also a graduate of Northwestern University and Harvard Divinity School, where she received a Master’s in religious studies.
