Perhaps L.A.’s most legendary contemporary journalist, Linda Deutsch will be “holding court” at our opening night reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27. Here’s your chance to ask her what it was like to be a special correspondent for the Associated Press for 48 years, covering the trials of notorious defendants such as Charles Manson, the Menendez Brothers, O.J. Simpson and Michael Jackson. She might even recount what it was like to phone in the lede of her story at Patty Hearst’s sentencing as newspapers editors across the country held their front pages in anticipation of Deutsch’s report. It’s also your chance to mingle with journalists while enjoying some appetizers and a no-host bar.
